Next generation ships on the container terminal Brajdica starting Sunday.
On Sunday, 16.03.2008, as a part of the regular weekly line China - Adriatic Service (ADR), the container ship ITAL LAGUNA is due for arrival. The vessel was built in 2006. and it belongs to a newer "L-type" generation of container ships having the load capacity of 5060 TEUs with 294 meters in length.
Tradeways d.o.o. from Rijeka, the shipping agent for EVERGREEN LINE Ltd. (Taiwan) has announced that besides ITAL LAGUNA, three more ships of such caliber are due for arrival along three smaller M-type vessels like ITAL MELODIA, which has the capacity to carry 4300 TEUs with 264 meters in length.
The shipping line from China to Rijeka is maintained by 7 container ships that travel from 25 to 30 days, a period estabilished since the start of the line. (SHANGHAI - NINGBO - YANTIAN - HONG KONG - TANJUNG PELEPAS - ALEXANDRIA - TARANTO - TRST - KOPAR - RIJEKA).
It is yet another incentive for the Rijeka's traffic route, the Port Of Rijeka and the city administration to invest in the expansion of the current container terminal capacities.
